Why Huntington Beach

Why Chose Living in Huntington Beach?

For me it was a spiritual awakening, a calling, something deep inside me…

The Sea has beckoned me since a wee lad growing up in Long Beach, California and summers in Newport Beach, California.  In Greek Mythology, Poseidon carries a Trident and it has  a purposeful meaning for me as well.  For me the three points of his trident represent; Vigilance, Integrity and Perseverance.

So why HB?  Well it is a bit of a story where I committed to live my life on my terms after I figured out the difference between an ‘Adult’ and a ‘Punk  Kid.   In a nut shell, turning 18 you are held accountable for your actions and must understand and know the ‘R’ word or RESPONSIBLITY.

So this young haole’ from Long Beach I was always driven to the wave breaks within of striking distance of a bus ride, thumb’n or the luck having a friend or parent giving us a ride.  More often or not Seal Beach, Surfside/Sunset, Huntington Beach Cliffs, or Northside was the call.

Huntington Beach with 8 miles of beautiful, scenic, sandy beaches and numerous beach breaks always with consistently ridable surf is arguably the best on the West Coast en Estados Unidos.

The problem for a budding up and coming young surfer is the popularity of Huntington Beach can means a bunch surfers in the line-up.

So how can I feed my chemical dependency on surfing?

  1. Need to Live close to the surf.
  2. Need a significant income to live by the beach
  3. Need a career with a income to live near the beach

As you can imagine you need binoculars or a low powered telescope to see that high up real estate and rental prices are.

The quality of life here is enhanced by its reputation as one of the only California Cities ‘Sticking it to da man,’ local City Councils.  It is hard enough maintaining the area’s city public safety department, public resources and excellent educational system.  When the Gov’t Goo keeps throwing shade at  residents of our surf-town.

Secondly, Huntington Beach has only so much ‘open’ space, a ocean access marina, riding stables and equestrian trails, wildlife preserve with walking trails expansive wild life and over the 8-miles of scenic biking and walking trail along the shore.

In a nut shell, Living in HB is full of resident local spirit of aloha.  In fact, in my humblest opinion living in HB is ‘No Ka Oi!’ as far as living the coastal beach life style.
