Living in HB is part of our Surf-Community building framework. Surf-Connection began in Huntington Beach in 1993 as a discrete surf-town collaboration of surfers and others with a sense of ‘family’ or ohana. The deep-rooted ancestral Polynesian/Hawaiian/Haole’ traditions.
Note* Don’t think of surf connection as a website for surfers, Rather a connection for family and friends using the internet to surf through and find your community of friends.
Spring forward to 2024 and my feeling is still the same as raising a family. A family, clan or group of people who would prefer to interact through direct face to face interpersonal communication. But as time marches-on we get older and technology grows exponentially.
Social media, App this, App that… Artificial Intelligence, A.I. just seems to outpace us in our local community clans.
Clan/Tribal traditions like fresh footprints on a beach, with the incoming high, tide keep getting erased.
Remember those conversations you used to have with your parents, guardians, or elders of your clan, tribe, community or ‘respected’ teacher?
That’s my premise in a ‘nutshell’! Surf-Connection strives to keep the family, clan alive for future generations through interaction and communication to cultivate and strengthen deeper ties, or roots with each other.
